Perform as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager and technical specialist on traffic engineering projects, responsible for invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets.
Apply general Traffic and ITS planning and engineering principles to solve specific Traffic and ITS related problems.
Lead the execution of traffic studies, including data collection, concept development, and operational and safety analysis.
Mentor junior staff in technical design elements and the development of project documents. Prepare reports and develop planning documents.
Produce detailed, high-quality design plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with applicable procedures and standards.
Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project’s purpose and the client’s needs.
Communicate with clients and stakeholders to understand client’s needs.
Participate in identifying project pursuit opportunities, manage client relationships, develop new clients, and assist in the preparation of proposals to win those pursuits.
Requirements
Proficient in design of transportation/civil engineering projects including preparation of plans and specifications, and cost estimates for all aspects of roadway construction.
Ability to lead one or more design teams through all phases of project production.
Ability to work with other transportation related disciplines to incorporate bridges and / or other structural elements, roadway improvements, Intelligent Transportation Systems and roadway lighting into a comprehensive plan set.
Proficient in planning and report preparation
Comfortable working collaboratively with team members virtually.
Recent experience planning and developing Roadway projects in MicroStation, Geopak and OpenRoads is desired.
Thorough knowledge and interpretation of transportation industry standards and guidance i.e. AASHTO, MUTCD, HCM, FHWA
Experience with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) Roadway Design Guidelines and Project Delivery Network is desired.
Willing to work in other States and apply other State’s standards. Experience in other states a positive.
Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Civil Engineering.
Professional Engineer registered in the State of Louisiana or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in Traffic-related subject matter, including design of Traffic Signals, with exposure to information and communication technologies, including fiber optic communication design or traffic control systems preferred.
Experience managing staff and handing out assignments.
Experience interacting with clients and leading projects from beginning to completion.
Experience in Signal Design, Signal System Timing, ITS Equipment Integration, Transportation Management Center (TMC) design and operations preferred.
