Perform end-to-end patch management for Windows and Linux servers using BigFix.
Plan, test, and deploy monthly, quarterly, and emergency security patches, hotfixes and emergency (zero-day) patch cycles.
Execute operating system upgrades for Windows Server and Linux distributions, including in-place and version upgrades.
Working knowledge of PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and validation.
Create, manage, and maintain BigFix fixlets, baselines, actions, and deployment schedules.
Monitor patch deployments, analyze failures, and perform remediation to achieve required patch compliance levels.
Support vulnerability remediation aligned with security advisories (CVEs).
Coordinate with application teams, security teams, business teams and respective teams to align patching and upgrades with maintenance windows and change management processes.
Hands-on experience with patch management tools including SCCM, Linux native tools (YUM/DNF/APT), and cloud-native services such as AWS Systems Manager and OCI OS Management Service (OSMS).
Maintain detailed documentation, including patching procedures, upgrade runbooks, rollback plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure adherence to organizational security policies, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure post-patch system and application stability with effective troubleshooting and communication skills.
Prepare and deliver patch compliance dashboard and management reports.
Follow ITIL-based change, incident, and problem management processes.
Support audits and compliance requirements (ISO, SOC, etc.)
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in OS patching and system administration across Windows and Linux platforms.
Experience working in an agile team environment.
Strong hands-on experience with BigFix for patch management.
Experience patching Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022,2025).
Experience patching Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE).
Proven competency in Windows and Linux OS upgrades, including planning, execution, and rollback.
Understanding of security vulnerabilities (CVEs) and compliance standards.
Experience with JIRA and Service Now ticketing system for incident management, change control and task management.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions.
Experience in handling critical incidents and working with the stakeholders in addressing the issues.
Excellent communications skills and the ability to effectively communicate findings both written and orally using both technical and non-technical terms.
