Serving as the lead for social media strategy, to include Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and any other emerging platforms
Creating, editing, and publishing daily content across all social media platforms, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with agency priorities
Collaborating with regional Public Information Officers (PIOs) and the video production team to produce cohesive, high‑quality, engaging digital content
Managing community engagement by monitoring comments, responding to inquiries, and identifying opportunities to strengthen public interaction
Developing and scheduling social media campaigns that highlight agency initiatives, operations, services, and member achievements
Enhancing and refine the agency’s social media voice, brand presence, and digital storytelling approach
Establishing and maintaining best practices for social media operations, including tone, style, accessibility, and crisis communication protocols
Designing graphics, multimedia products, and short‑form videos to support digital storytelling and increase audience engagement
Tracking analytics and performance metrics to evaluate content effectiveness and inform future strategy
Supporting major events, press conferences, public safety campaigns, and statewide initiatives through coordinated digital content
Requirements
Knowledge of AP Style, grammar, and punctuation for clear, accurate writing
Knowledge of public relations, public information, strategic communications, and best practices for government and public safety communication
Knowledge of social media platforms, trends, analytics tools, and strategies to maximize reach and engagement
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, PIOs, leadership, and external partners
Ability to analyze information and identify public information or communication needs
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments in a fast paced environment
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, including drafting press releases, media advisories, and digital content
Ability to lead and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for a statewide law enforcement agency
Ability to plan, prepare, and disseminate news releases, speeches, talking points, and other communication materials as needed
Ability to collaborate effectively with PIOs, the video team, leadership, and partner agencies to ensure cohesive messaging
