Advising FDLE Special Agents, Investigators, lab, and investigative support personnel on issues of law and criminal procedure, including search and seizure, compliance with court orders, and dealing with wiretaps or similar sophisticated investigative efforts
Assisting the Office of General Counsel in department efforts such as curriculum development and review for the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission
Conducting FDLE in-house training on multiple subjects including criminal law, personnel, and general “agency operation” topics
Performing regional court hearing appearances and assisting other agency attorneys as needed
Handling FDLE forfeiture actions
Requirements
A member of the Florida bar for four (4) or more years
At least two (2) years of experience as a law enforcement agency legal advisor, prosecutor, or similar criminal justice system work
Significant experience as a law enforcement agency legal advisor, prosecutor, or similar criminal justice system work
Ability to create and present training materials
Effective oral advocacy skills (courtroom hearings and trials)
Experience writing or evaluating search warrant affidavits and warrants
The ability to successfully complete a background investigation to determine suitability for the position
Experience in applying Chapter 934, Florida Statutes or federal equivalent.
