Develop relevant budgets for potential grants and projects in collaboration with the Executive Director and regional or project personnel.
Provide financial analysis and support for budget planning and forecasting.
Develop and maintain systems to regularly provide financial reports to internal teams and management, including monthly and quarterly financial reports.
Consolidate and analyse IDC’s use of resources and budget variances, and provide recommendations for cost-saving and financial efficiency as needed.
Grants Compliance
Oversee the implementation of the Chart of Accounts and Job Coding system to meaningfully reflect the activities of the organisation, and track grant expenditure against approved accounts in IDC’s finance systems.
Ensure donor-specific financial requirements are followed, and maintain grant finance folders and supporting documentation.
Ensure all grant income and expenditure are attributed correctly in line with funding agreements and internal arrangements.
Prepare donor financial reports, and flag budget variances early.
Collaborate with Finance Coordinator to maintain up-to-date grant and income record keeping.
Financial Compliance
Monitor and administer any financial entitlements service and law changes for Netherlands-based staff, update relevant team members as needed.
Ensure timely and accurate lodgements and filing of Netherlands tax obligations and financial reporting for Stichting IDC, including ANBI reporting, annual reporting, wage tax reporting, and all other statutory financial reporting.
Banking and Accounting
Monitor deposits, transfers, withdrawals on IDC’s Netherlands banking, and implement payments, including payroll.
Conduct reconciliation for IDC’s Netherlands bank account in a timely manner, correctly allocating income and expenditure.
Ensure accurate financial data administration, and that the account is balanced at the end of each month.
Maintain relationships with Netherlands banking and ensure optimal services.
Requirements
Relevant degree or professional qualification in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance.
At least 3 years of grants and finance experience in nonprofits, including multiple funding sources, compliance requirements, budgeting, and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent grants/projects with differing reporting requirements, including maintaining strong financial reporting.
Experience supporting grant application processes, including developing accurate budgets and financial projections for proposals.
Experience in finance administration, including coordinating transaction workflows, payments, controls, approval processes, and accounts payable/receivable.
Proven ability to ensure compliance with local financial regulations and nonprofit statutory requirements in the Netherlands.
Experience liaising with external auditors, banks, funders, and compliance agencies.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, general ledger and financial reporting systems, and grants management software, with the ability to quickly adapt to new tools.
High level of integrity and professionalism, particularly regarding sensitive financial information.
Strong collaboration skills, able to work effectively across regions and remote teams.
Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
