Applies mechanical engineering principles to design, develop, and support L3Harris FOS product lines during new product design, development, and legacy product production
Interacts with a multidisciplinary design team and works within established design guidelines to ensure products meet or exceed customer and industry specifications
Supports production of existing products, working with manufacturing and quality to troubleshoot issues, document changes, and adhere to AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards
Leads mechanical design efforts for assigned programs, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, and industry specifications
Develops and matures mechanical designs from concept through qualification and production release using mechanical engineering knowledge and established design practices
Generates and maintains engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation in accordance with configuration management requirements
Creates, revises, and interprets engineering drawings, specifications, compliance matrices, and related documentation in accordance with company, customer, and industry standards
Defines and supports qualification and environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock), including test planning and reporting
Performs and/or collaborates with engineering analysts to execute finite element analysis (FEA) and/or other analytical assessments
Participates in failure investigations related to design, production builds, and fielded products to find root cause and implement corrective actions
Prepares and presents materials for internal and customer design reviews
Supports active production efforts, including tooling and test fixture design, product troubleshooting, drawing and document updates, process control improvements, and design enhancements
Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving efficiency, product quality, reliability, and cost
Acts as a mentor and coach for day-to-day technical guidance to foster a culture of collaboration
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or other related Engineering field
Minimum 6 years of prior relevant work experience
Graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years prior relevant work
In lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of prior related experience
Experience with CAD (Solid Edge, SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent)
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and drawing standards
Experience with design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA)
