Senior Design for Manufacturing Engineer

Role Overview

• The Senior Design for Manufacturing Engineer will be accountable for functional, manufacturing, and broad company objectives.
• In this role you will contribute to technology roadmaps in design boards, drive Flight Deck culture, manage complex manufacturing issues within functional areas of expertise, and be involved in both short and long-term planning to ensure the on-time delivery of new technologies.
• Provide technical direction to a large design team for the RISE program, a revolutionary new engine concept with significant business impact, using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
• Provide manufacturing consultation on manufacturing practices and standards, including initial development needs and cost predictions to aid in key strategic decisions.
• Participate in cross-functional team meetings including design engineering, quality, materials and manufacturing with a goal of defining requirements and standards for new designs.
• Assist design engineers and manufacturing engineers in aligning drawing requirements with manufacturing best practices and standard work.
• Work collaboratively with Design and Systems Engineering teams, production and global sites to formulate technical solutions that align with long term business objectives.
• Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical, program and design reviews, while communicating with the customer or program manager to assure a quality product will be able to be delivered.
• Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions.
• Serve as a recognized expert in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities.
• Partner with Design Boards, Manufacturing pyramids and TRL owners to industrialize design and technologies.
• Develop standard work for the implementation of new technologies and processes related to manufacturing components.
• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and a FLIGHT DECK mentality within the manufacturing organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Good level of written and oral communication skills in English.
• 10+ additional years of relevant Manufacturing and / or Engineering experience
• Experience in development hardware ownership and manufacturing of high-precision, turbomachinery components.
• Strong aptitude in mechanical design, ability to review drawings, understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and Product Definition, including reading and interpreting drawings.
