About this role
Role Overview
Review and validate revenue recognition for construction activities through extensive understanding of the Work in Progress schedule
Participate in monthly job status review meetings with Project Managers and Operations team
Collaborate with Project Accountants, Project Coordinators and Project Managers
Monitor job status and performance of large, multi-divisional projects
Maintain understanding of the financial impact of projects per region
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and resolve any outstanding items
Prepare journal entries, adjustments, general ledger reconciliations, expense allocation entries, and other month-end/year-end closing activities
Assist Controller and/or Accounting Managers with accurate financial reporting for fixed assets, inventory and other assets, processing adjustments as needed
Assist Controller and/or Accounting Managers with bank reconciliations, daily cash position reporting
Assist Controller and/or Accounting Managers with service revenue recognition and accounting
Assist Controller and Senior Accounting Manager with annual external financial audit including initial audit preparation and responding to auditor requests
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting regulations, and financial controls
Prepare financial analysis, such as financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis
Stay up to date with industry trends, changes in accounting standards, and best practices
Provide guidance and support to the accounting team, promoting professional growth and development
Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and mentor team members to foster their professional growth and development
Participate in the hiring process by conducting interviews, assessing candidates' qualifications, and making recommendations for team additions
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA candidate or willingness to pursue CPA designation preferred
Prior experience as an Accounting Manager or similar role, with a focus on WIP schedules, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
Prior experience supervising a team
Construction Accounting/Industry experience is required
Prior experience in public accounting is a plus
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP, and percentage of completion method of accounting
Experience working with financial software and ERP systems, Viewpoint Vista preferred
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Excellent time management skills, coupled with ability to juggle and prioritize competing demands
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
