Maintains all employee payroll information to ensure it is current and accurate.
Works in conjunction with the appropriate resources to process new hires, employee changes, terminations, and transfers of hourly craft employees.
Prepares and processes in house‑ weekly multi‑provincial (including Quebec) payroll for hourly craft employees.
Understands and interprets government legislation and collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliance with pay, deductions, benefits, taxes, and documentation requirements.
Maintains all aspects of district payroll system setup, where required.
Reconciles and remits all company and union benefit liabilities, including but not limited to CCQ, Revenu Québec, CNESST, WCB, CRA, and provincial health.
Reconciles and prepares payroll year‑end reporting for hourly craft employees, including Relevé 1s, T4s, and T2200s.
Develops and maintains strong customer focused‑ relationships with all stakeholders.
Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
Fluent in spoken and written French and English is required.
Minimum of two years of unionized payroll administration experience, including Quebec.
Intermediate knowledge of payroll processes, statutory laws, and labour agreements.
Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply collective bargaining agreements to payroll administration.
Experience with the preparation, reconciliation, and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external remittances.
Excellent attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills.
Collaborative team player with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to maintain performance when faced with tight deadlines and frequent changes.
Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and automated payroll processing systems.
Actively working toward or completion of the Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification is desirable.
Experience with JDE or Oracle payroll systems is considered an asset.
