About this role
Role Overview
Provide leadership to the hourly, salaried exempt, and salaried non-exempt employees within the Syngas unit operations department.
Supervise unit operations and will be responsible for operating the Syngas unit in a safe, reliable, cost-efficient, and environmentally responsible manner to achieve safety, production, quality, and budget goals.
Participate on the LaPorte site leadership team to develop the site strategic plan, annual goals, drive gap closure efforts, and ensure alignment of all plant activities with global manufacturing and the company strategic plan.
Participate on corporate teams to help champion and implement corporate level strategic initiatives and goals.
Inspire and coach to optimize performance of people and processes; develop and coach people via dialogue to continuously improve knowledge, skills, and ability; holding people accountable; developing successors with talent pools.
Understand the importance and the appropriate utilization of teams and teamwork in achieving business objectives; fostering teamwork and collaboration; demonstrating ability to mold and build team spirit, working relationships, and decision-making processes required in a dynamic and competitive business environment.
Delivers GoalZERO HSE performance through strong leadership, employee/contractor involvement, and management systems.
Participates, leads, and implements site, regional, and corporate initiatives in the Syngas unit.
Responsible for implementation and adherence of corporate standards, including fostering continuous improvement related to Operating Discipline.
Responsible for preparing and managing the Syngas unit budget in a cost-efficient and responsible way that meets both budget goals and needs of the site.
Participates actively with the business team to create, plan, organize and execute short and long-range objectives to ensure continued site and business alignment, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Accountable for day-to-day execution across all areas of the Syngas unit.
Benchmark and challenge the Syngas organization to achieve continuous improvement in all areas.
Leads efforts to build a strong LyondellBasell brand through community service.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is preferred
At least eight to ten (8-10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Previous people leader and/or management experience is preferred
Knowledge of and experience with HSE, operating, maintenance, and engineering processes and procedures, business fundamentals, and shared services role in manufacturing
Strong people and organizational leadership acumen demonstrated through previous experience within manufacturing and across the organization
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interface with all organizational levels within the company.
