Reporting to the Animation Team Lead, you will create and integrate numerous animation systems that meet both the technical requirements and the project’s artistic direction.
Ensure animation systems are robust, optimized, and tailored to gameplay needs and production constraints.
Work closely with animation, gameplay, and engineering teams to integrate animation assets into the game engine.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to animation systems, gameplay features, and scripted events.
Maintain consistent workflows using task tracking tools (Jira), pipelines, and team syncs.
Design, develop, and maintain animation systems in Unreal Engine, including: Animation Blueprints, AnimGraphs, and State Machines.
Implement and support animation features for both first-person and third-person gameplay.
Prototype, test, and iterate on animation systems to ensure quality and performance.
Communicate clearly and proactively with leads and team members about progress, risks, and solutions.
Contribute to a collaborative and positive working environment across departments.
Requirements
College diploma in 3D animation with a focus on video games, or equivalent education/experience.
5–10 years of experience in animation for game development, working in a realistic style.
Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5, particularly Animation Blueprints and AnimGraphs.
Experience scripting or developing technical tools (Python, C++, etc.).
Experience improving pipelines or creating custom workflows for animation teams.
Knowledge of animation concepts or the ability to create animation prototypes.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in French and English to interact with all partners.
