Researches, develops, designs, and oversees testing on mechanical components, equipment, and systems
Experience with heavy machinery design, analysis and repair is a plus
Develop and issue technical directions, designs, and drawings needed to support maintenance
Candidates should be proficient in mechanical design and troubleshooting of high capacity and high cycle transmission equipment
Occasional on-call duty, infrequent shift rotations, and weekend work as needed
Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
Candidates may need the ability to be attain a security clearance and be TLD qualified
Experience with design analysis and root cause failure analysis of static and dynamic systems is a plus
