Indirect Tax Specialist – Taxation, VAT

Role Overview

• Advise and support an international client portfolio on VAT obligations and strategies
• Prepare and submit European VAT returns, EC/intra‑EU sales filings and Intrastat reports on time
• Provide guidance on handling taxable transactions in e‑commerce and B2B environments
• Communicate with tax authorities across Europe and assist with audits and enquiries
• Proactively track deadlines and support payment schedules
• Collaborate with the credit control team to monitor client accounts
• Monitor changes in VAT legislation and ensure practical implementation
• Contribute to internal improvement initiatives and provide training and mentoring to new team members
• Represent the company at webinars, events and client meetings

Requirements

• Experience in taxation, finance, accounting or law — ideally with a focus on VAT
• Native-level German and excellent written and spoken English
• Strong communication and advisory skills (written, telephone and face-to-face)
• Structured and reliable work approach — able to perform under time pressure and handle complex issues
• High degree of personal responsibility, strong organizational skills and team orientation
• Experience with or interest in international e‑commerce and online retail
• Knowledge of EU tax law and reporting obligations (e.g. OSS, VAT IDs, Intrastat)
