Set up and prepare required equipment for client use and clean equipment following use
Participate in program planning
Carry out exercise programs plus gait training ensuring clients perform the prescribed activities in an appropriate and safe manner
Assist the supervising Physiotherapist by performing various components of the treatment plan including gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, plus application of modalities ( i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS) as prescribed by the Physiotherapist for clients within a Retirement or residential setting
Provide clear, timely communication to the supervising Physiotherapist and other appropriate Health Care team members regarding changes to or concerns of the client’s status, interventions or activities
Properly maintain and document regarding client activities, progress and treatment plans consistent with ParaMed’s policies
Requirements
Graduate of a PTA/OTA course from a recognized post-secondary program
1-2 years of PTA experience with elderly populations is preferred
Ability to effectively communicate both through oral and written mediums
Able to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Position Screening (VPS)
Current CPR and First Aid (within 1 year) obtained within Canada
Demonstrate compassion, tact and diplomacy when interacting with residents/clients and their families
