Provide practical, commercially-focused legal advice across corporate/commercial, privacy, regulatory, employment, and intellectual property matters
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including SaaS subscription agreements, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and other customer, partner, reseller, and vendor contracts
Act as a legal business partner to Sales, Customer Success, Product, Finance, People, Marketing, and Operations teams
Support privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance initiatives in a SaaS environment
Advise on employment-related matters, including drafting employment agreements, supporting employee relations escalations, and advising on compliance with applicable employment legislation across Canadian jurisdictions, the US and the UK
Assist with corporate governance, transactional, and risk management activities, including internal policies and compliance workflows
Help manage external counsel relationships to ensure high-quality advice and cost-effective legal spend
Contribute to the development and optimization of Legal team operations, including contract templates, playbooks, workflows, automation, and process improvements
Support internal compliance training and education initiatives to foster a culture of compliance
Take on additional responsibilities and projects as the Legal team and company continue to grow
Travel as required to support key company events (e.g. company kickoffs, team on-sites, team-building events, etc.)
Requirements
Qualified lawyer licensed to practice law in Ontario (or another Canadian jurisdiction with eligibility to transfer)
7–10 years of post-call experience with a strong foundation in technology and commercial law
Experience gained at a leading Canadian law firm and/or in-house at a technology or SaaS company
Demonstrated experience negotiating technology and SaaS agreements
Working knowledge of privacy/data protection, employment, and IP issues relevant to SaaS businesses
Strong business judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Comfort with legal technology, contract management tools, and process improvement
AI-first mindset with demonstrated curiosity and experimentation with legal AI tools, contract automation, and emerging legal technology use cases
Prior in-house experience at a high-growth technology company preferred
Experience supporting cross-border or international commercial arrangements
Interest in contributing to legal best practices, playbooks, and operational improvements
