Design and evolve the platform architecture for a sportsbook using your experience building these systems from the ground up.
Architect scalable backend systems, low-latency APIs, and real-time data pipelines
where lag is not an option.
Design highly available, distributed systems with strong consistency to guarantee flawless financial processing during massive sporting events.
Lead the architectural decision-making, run POCs, and evaluate technologies as the final authority for the tech stack.
Define the security architecture (authentication, fraud prevention, API protection) while ensuring robust operational readiness and disaster recovery.
Build out engineering teams (internal and external), establish strict technical standards (ADRs), and align architecture across frontend, backend, and DevOps.
Work directly alongside the Co-Founders to translate the business vision into a scalable engineering reality.
Requirements
A proven track record of building a Sportsbook platform. This is a non-negotiable requirement.
3+ years as a Software Architect or Principal Engineer and 8+ years building high-volume, high-availability distributed systems.
Deep backend engineering expertise in Node.js, Java, Go, or Python with an understanding of real-time communication and stateful connections.
Mastery of AWS or GCP, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
Expert-level understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), Redis, and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Experience designing large-scale cloud architectures in production environments.
Hands-on, pragmatic approach with the ability to lead through technical authority in a fast-moving environment.
The ability to explain complex architectural trade-offs to both engineering and leadership.
