THEY OFTEN LEAD ONE OR MORE ASSISTANTS, INSTRUCT THEM IN WORK TO BE PERFORMED, REVIEW THE WORK DONE, AND DIRECT NECESSARY REVISIONS.
SENIORS ARE REQUIRED TO MAKE DECISIONS ON ALL BUT THE MOST UNUSUAL ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING MATTERS.
PERFORMS DIVERSIFIED ACCOUNTING, AUDITING, AND TAX ASSIGNMENTS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF SUPERVISOR, MANAGER OR PARTNER.
DEMONSTRATES COMPETENCY IN TECHNICAL SKILLS, WORK QUALITY, AND APPLICATION OF PROFESSIONAL AND FIRM STANDARDS.
INTERACTS WITH CLIENTS ON A FREQUENT BASIS (I.E. DAILY, WEEKLY OR MONTHLY), AS NEEDED UNDER THE SCOPE OF EACH ENGAGEMENT.
RESPONDS TIMELY TO CLIENT INQUIRIES; MEETS TIME CONSTRAINTS AND CLIENT DEADLINES.
PARTICIPATES IN PLANNING AND SCHEDULING CLIENT ENGAGEMENTS.
DIRECTS AND INSTRUCTS ASSISTANTS, WHERE APPLICABLE, IN WORK TO BE PERFORMED AND WORKING PAPER REVIEW.
TIMELY PERFORMS ASSIGNED RECURRING ACCOUNTING DUTIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH ENGAGEMENT SCOPE. THESE CAN INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO; POSTING ACCOUNTS PAYABLE OR ACCOUNT RECEIVABLE TRANSACTIONS, PAYING VENDOR AND EXPENSES DUE, DEPOSITING CHECKS AND ENSURING ALL BANK TRANSACTIONS ARE PROPERLY RECORDED.
PREPARES AND INDEXES WORKING PAPERS; PERFORMS VARIOUS PROCEDURES ESTABLISHED UNDER GENERALLY ACCEPTED ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES TO VERIFY ACCURACY AND VALIDITY OF CLIENT’S FINANCIAL MATTERS.
PREPARES COMPLICATED TAX RETURNS AND RETURNS ON DISSOLUTION OR LIQUIDATION.
SUGGESTS CLIENT TAX PLANNING IDEAS TO SUPERVISOR, MANAGER, OR PARTNER.
PREPARES ROUTINE CORRESPONDENCE TO CLIENT FOR APPROVAL AND SIGNATURE OF A PARTNER; WRITES COMMENTS FOR MANAGEMENT LETTERS.
DRAFTS REPORTS INCLUDING FOOTNOTES.
PERFORMS THE BROADEST RANGE OF ACCOUNTANT TASKS SO THAT DIRECT PARTICIPATION OF SUPERVISORS, MANAGERS, OR PARTNERS IS KEPT TO A MINIMUM.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting or closely related field, plus 3 years of work experience as a public accountant or closely related occupation.
Alternatively, a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting or closely related field, plus 2 years of work experience as a public accountant or closely related occupation.
Tax and accounting knowledge, including GAAP
Extensive experience working with FAS109 tax accounting, including tax accounting for stock-based compensation.
Extensive experience working with international tax forms required by IRS
Experience conducting tax research and analysis to identify tax savings opportunities and prepare tax-related reports and schedules
Experience detecting accounting and tax errors and discrepancies when preparing tax returns
Experience analyzing financial statements and trail balance to create accurate tax workpapers
Experience preparing adjusted journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance for tax purpose
Experience supporting seniors in tax planning and client advisory task
Experience assisting with IRS and state tax notices and response to tax authority inquiries
Gained further knowledge of specific software including but not limited to Microsoft Excel (specifically for Excel: VLOOKUP, PivotTable and formatting Excel charts).
Gained extensive knowledge of accounting and tax software like Quickbooks, CCH, Lacerte, BNA, Caseware, Sureprep, etc.
Researched complex tax issues using internal revenue code and other tax research software like BNA, etc.
