Role Overview
- Manage and resolve tax audits, appeals, and disputes with federal, state, and international tax authorities
- Develop and implement effective strategies for tax controversy resolution
- Take the lead in gathering information for tax authorities
- Design and implement automated solutions for tax audits
- Manage external relationships with outside counsel and tax advisors
- Review and edit correspondence with income tax authorities
- Conduct research and analysis of tax laws and regulations
- Identify and assess potential tax risks
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in a government (IRS), law firm, Big 4 accounting firm, or corporate tax role
- Expertise in IRS audit procedures and practices
- Familiarity with US tax implications of international operations
- Experience with state income/franchise tax, sales and use tax, gross receipts taxes
- Strong strategic thinking and negotiation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in artificial intelligence tools
- Excel modeling experience
- Experience with tax provision software
- Meticulous work product preparation and review
- Analytical and organized approach to project-management
