Support the implementation of the regional communications strategy and campaign plans for Latin America and the Caribbean, contributing to the delivery of advocacy objectives through coordinated communications outputs.
Produce, adapt and localise communications content for the region in Spanish and English, including digital content, newsletters, press-related materials, event communications and knowledge products, ensuring accuracy, cultural relevance and a rights-based approach.
Support content gathering for communications purposes, including capturing photos, short videos or quotes at events when appropriate, and organising, adapting and collating audiovisual materials produced by partners, consultants or other team members.
Provide communications support for regional events (virtual and in-person), including preparation of communications materials, live or near-live content support when required, and post-event content production and dissemination.
Support the execution of regional campaigns, including those developed with partners and external actors, contributing to content production, rollout and coordination across channels.
Support the maintenance and regular updating of the regional communications calendar, ensuring accurate tracking of activities, deadlines and dependencies, in line with priorities defined by the Associate Manager, LAC and ensuring this information is included in global calendars too.
Collaborate with internal teams such as Digital and Production, Media, Development and Program teams to support content workflows, approvals and delivery.
Support engagement with partners, consultants and service providers involved in regional communications initiatives, including designers, translators, videographers and agencies, facilitating smooth collaboration and timely delivery.
Assist in maintaining and updating regional contact databases, including media, partners, influencers and target audiences, to support outreach and engagement activities.
Support and contribute to day-to-day communications workflows for the region, including content preparation, scheduling, coordination of sign-off processes and tracking of deliverables across platforms.
Support the management of regional digital channels by drafting, scheduling and publishing content in line with approval protocols, monitoring performance, and flagging relevant insights or issues to the Associate Manager, LAC.
Contribute to the production and consolidation of the regional newsletter and other audience-building initiatives, including content preparation, adaptation and coordination.
Support media-related activities by preparing background materials, quotes, briefing notes and supporting documentation for pitches, interviews and rapid response efforts.
Assist with basic monitoring and tracking of communications outputs and performance, contributing data and insights to support reporting, learning and continuous improvement.
Ensure that all communications outputs adhere to Equality Now’s editorial standards, brand guidelines, safeguarding principles and approval processes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related fields or equivalent experience.
2+ years of communications experience in national or international contexts, preferably in human rights, advocacy, or non-profit sectors.
(Desirable) Knowledge of women’s and girls’ rights, sexual violence, intersectionality and human rights–based communications, particularly in the Latin America and Caribbean context.
Experience supporting advocacy-oriented communications or digital campaigns is highly desirable.
Fluent in Spanish and English.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high-quality writing and editing experience across formats, including digital, social media, and press materials.
Demonstrated experience working with social media platforms in advocacy for social justice or human rights contexts, with an understanding of platform-specific dynamics, formats and audience behaviours relevant to Latin America and the Caribbean.
Ability to monitor social media activity and digital trends, identify emerging topics, narratives and formats, and interpret their relevance for Equality Now’s communications work, flagging insights to inform content execution.
Working knowledge of digital tools, including CMS, social media scheduling platforms, media monitoring systems (e.g., Meltwater), Google Suite, and digital design and production processes (in collaboration with production teams).
Understanding of online and offline advocacy tactics, including the role of digital campaigns, influencers and partnerships in advancing communications and advocacy objectives.
Ability to apply creativity within agreed communications strategies and editorial frameworks, contributing to the achievement of defined objectives.
Skilled in tailoring messaging to diverse audiences such as policymakers, justice system operators, journalists, civil society partners and experts in the LAC context.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across teams, functions and cultural contexts, contributing to a respectful and effective working environment.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow agreed workplans and meet deadlines consistently.
Capacity to execute tasks with autonomy within defined parameters, and to escalate issues appropriately when needed.
