Role Overview
- Support clients across the energy industry through the provision of advisory services and consultancy, to manage the mechanical integrity of production, transmission, and distribution energy / oil & gas assets throughout our client’s asset life cycle
- Responsible for delivering projects across all stages, including proposal preparation, methodology development, analysis, reporting, and the formulation of recommendations and solutions that fulfil client expectations
- Collaborate with both the Fitness For Service (FFS) and Vibration and Asset Health (VAH) teams, gaining comprehensive experience across service offerings, which include:
- Development and implementation of methods for managing fitness-for-service assessments for pressure equipment, tanks, and pipelines, including identifying degradation mechanisms in pressure vessels and pipelines and delivering cost-effective remedial solutions
- Conducting pipework and structural vibration measurements and investigations across operational assets to identify root causes and assess risk, while supporting comprehensive analytical work through engineering calculations, data interpretation, and technical analysis
- Theoretical analysis of vibration, and fluid pulsation and noise issues
- Failure and mechanical integrity investigations
- Conducting plant condition assessments to support operational integrity and safety objectives, perform compressor testing to ensure safe and efficient operation, and carry out plant surveys to verify compliance of compressor safety equipment
- Technology qualification and research
Requirements
- Minimum 2:1 Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Passion for developing your skills both professionally and personally, including the commitment to complete the appropriate professional registration in your field (Chartership)
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills along with ability to produce clear and concise technical reports for our customers
- Motivation to contribute to the energy transition, including the repurposing of existing infrastructure
- Pro-active willingness to learn new skills, displaying a willingness to ’get stuck in’ and undertake work outside your ‘comfort zone’, demonstrating appropriate balance between asking for help and using own initiative / thinking through the problem
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, confident in building professional relationships and demonstrating first class written, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to plan and prioritise own time and activities, to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives
We would also hope that you would possess an interest and/or developed some understanding in some of the following technical areas as part of your studies:
- Perform data analysis and finite element modelling, including dynamic analysis, alongside pipework stress analysis using CAESAR II
- Apply knowledge of stress analysis, material behaviour, and structural mechanics, as well as advanced vibration and acoustics assessment techniques, including modal analysis. MATLAB programming for data acquisition and analysis
- Developing knowledge of relevant industry standards related to fitness-for-service assessments and pipework vibration
