Lead Turbine Controls RCA: Guide the turbine controls Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process through the 8D (Eight Disciplines) problem-solving methodology from initiation to completion.
Analyze and Resolve Complex Control Issues: Investigate and address intricate control system problems within turbine fleets, leveraging advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
Implement Containment Measures and Corrective Actions: Develop and execute interim solutions to mitigate issues while working on permanent corrective actions.
Manage Defects and Change Requests: Oversee the lifecycle of defects and change requests, ensuring they are properly documented, prioritized, and resolved.
Communicate Technical Findings: Present technical findings, recommendations, and progress reports to stakeholders through clear and concise reports and presentations.
Promote Lessons Learned and Best Practices: Integrate lessons learned and best practices into design documentation and processes to enhance overall quality and efficiency.
Lead and Participate in Projects: Manage and contribute to multiple projects, ensuring they adhere to schedules, quality standards, and project management best practices.
Provide Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Offer technical expertise and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Utilize Lean Tools: Apply Lean methodologies and tools for process improvements, documenting successful projects and their impacts.
Develop and Implement Innovative Concepts: Create and implement cutting-edge design and development concepts to tackle technical challenges and drive innovation.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science
Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
Minimum of 2 years of relevant wind engineering experience
Proven experience and significant contribution in a similar technical leadership role within the wind energy or controls industry
Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink or similar simulation and modeling tools
Experience with wind turbine control systems and aero-elastic wind turbine simulation tools like Flex or Simpak
Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in controls, wind energy, system dynamics, or a related field
Strong understanding of classical and modern control theory principles
Experience with real-time control systems such as MarkVIe
Knowledge of programming languages like C/C++ or Python
Experience simulating field issues to develop and test resolution strategies
Strong ability to analyze large data sets to detect trends, determine root causes, and drive data-informed decisions
Strong ability to interface effectively with all organizational levels, including external customers and partners
Strong communication skills
Ability to present to Senior Leadership
