Acts as Lead Engineer over protection & controls projects for medium to high voltage utility substations.
Provides training to others with knowledge in electromechanical relays, microprocessor-based relays, and other related protection & controls topics.
Develops engineering cost estimates for proposals.
Oversees the preparation of equipment specifications, bid evaluations and procurement recommendations.
Development of protection & control design submittals including bill of materials, one-line diagrams, AC three-line diagrams, DC schematics, communication diagrams, SCADA integration, cabling, wiring, and panel front views.
Familiar with physical layouts of major equipment and verification of phasing.
Ability to perform quality control checking of protection & control deliverables.
Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
Prepares a variety of engineering deliverables such as contract documents, project documents, and studies with little to no supervision.
Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Demonstrates understanding of project phases, schedules and schedule recovery as it pertains to engineering production and deliverables.
Actively seeks to understand client interests and drivers through project related client contact and through interaction and communication with project leadership.
Support Business Development by providing technical information for sales proposals, or by pursuing other related activates as assigned by department managers.
Continues to learn and develop knowledge and skills in departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Commonwealth Associates policies and procedures.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program required
