Manager, Control Room – Salt Waste Processing Facility

Role Overview

• Managing safe and efficient operations of the control room(s).
• Assume command and control responsibilities for control room operators and other staff.
• Acts as back-up to Shift Operations Manager during absences.
• Encouraging and providing education on a nuclear safety culture.
• Manages control room operations personnel on a given shift.
• Ensures appropriate Abnormal Operating Procedures and Emergency Operation Procedures are entered.
• Interfaces with DWPF, Saltstone, H-Canyon and Effluent Treatment Project facilities.
• Develops plans and path forward actions to address emergent shift needs as a result of failed equipment or changing conditions.
• Ensures all status control logs and status boards are properly maintained.
• Reacts quickly and calmly to adverse situations and preserves incident/event sites until investigation and fact finding is complete.
• Ensures personnel are effectively trained and Automatic Qualification Matrix watch bills are manned appropriately.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED with nuclear experience in a relevant engineering, operations or maintenance function as defined in the job description.
• Current qualification as a Control Room Operator, First Line Manager or Shift Technical Engineer within the hiring facility will be credited towards experience.
• Deviations to Education and Experience Requirements must follow requirements of DOE Order 426.2.
• Facility qualification process including extensive classroom, formal on-the-job training, and oral board examination conducted by facility management must be completed within one year.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (Preferred)
• Previous supervisory experience (Preferred)
