Role Overview
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 7 General Case Filing professionals, including performance management, capacity planning, and career development.
Set strategic direction and operating priorities for the GCF team, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory obligations.
Establish clear expectations and accountability for quality, timeliness, and regulatory outcomes.
Promote a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the team.
Own the overall general case filing portfolio, including intake governance, prioritization, execution oversight, and delivery across states and products.
Balance competing business priorities and regulatory constraints to drive effective sequencing and delivery of filings.
Serve as the escalation point for complex, high‑risk, or sensitive filings and DOI interactions.
Monitor regulatory environments and proactively assess impacts to filing strategy, capacity, and delivery commitments.
Develop strong working knowledge of state DOI requirements, objection management, and negotiation with regulators across multiple jurisdictions.
Partner closely with Compliance, Product, Legal and Regulatory Team to interpret regulatory changes and define appropriate filing strategies.
Oversee execution of compliance‑driven updates, mandated revisions, and state‑specific requirements impacting general case filings.
Ensure adherence to internal governance, filing standards, documentation expectations, and audit readiness.
Identify, assess, and communicate regulatory risks and mitigation strategies to the AVP, Product Compliance & Delivery and business partners.
Act as a trusted advisor to Product, Actuarial, Legal, Compliance, Implementation, Underwriting, and Operations on regulatory filing considerations.
Drive initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, quality improvement, and workload optimization across the GCF team.
Ensure consistent maintenance of regulatory guidance, filing documentation, standards, and reference materials.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Minimum 5+ years of insurance industry experience, with significant experience in regulatory filings, product compliance, or product delivery
Direct experience with group life, supplemental health, disability, and voluntary benefits products
Demonstrated people leadership experience, including direct leadership of teams or accountability for complex portfolios
Strong working knowledge of state insurance regulatory environments and filing processes (SERFF experience preferred)
Proven ability to manage competing priorities, assess risk, and deliver results in a deadline‑driven environment
Strong analytical, organizational, and decision‑making skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at multiple levels
Collaborative, enterprise‑minded leadership style
Strong judgment under ambiguity, especially where state guidance is inconsistent or evolving.
