Assist in developing efficient stowage plans that optimize vessel space, ensure cargo safety, and comply with operational and regulatory requirements
Collaborate closely with operations, documentation, and terminal teams to resolve planning issues, support daily vessel operations, and contribute to continuous process improvements
Assist in creating and updating vessel stowage plans to optimize space utilization, vessel stability, and cargo safety
Review booking information, cargo restrictions, and documentation to ensure compliance with operational, regulatory, and client requirements
Coordinate closely with terminal, operations, and documentation teams to resolve planning conflicts and support smooth vessel turnaround
Monitor load and discharge operations, adjusting plans as required, and maintaining accurate data in planning systems and software
Identify potential risks or issues (such as overweights or hazardous cargo conflicts) and escalate them promptly to senior planners or supervisors
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in maritime, nautical studies, supply chain / logistics discipline or an equivalent level of seagoing Certificate of Competency
Minimum 2 years’ experience in the operational aspects of the shipping industry
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, meet deadlines, cope with changing circumstances and people
Proficiency in computer systems and MS Office, with the ability to learn specialized planning or terminal operating software
Applicants must be an Australian citizens or permanent residents.
Applicants must have full working rights in Australia for the entire duration of the contract.
New Zealand citizens planning to relocate permanently to Victoria, Australia, are more than welcome to apply.
