Prepare detailed construction shop drawings for geothermal system installations, including piping layouts, borehole configurations, and equipment placement.
Develop and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs) for each project, optimizing for cost, availability, and performance.
Perform AutoCAD drafting and modeling to create precise 2D/3D designs of ground loops, manifolds, and system integrations, and manage CAD file template structure.
Complete head loss calculations for ground loop circuits to ensure proper flow rates, pump sizing, and overall system efficiency.
Design ground loop heat exchangers, including sizing boreholes, determining loop lengths, selecting pipe materials, and incorporating site-specific soil and thermal data.
Collaborate with sales, project management, and installation teams to refine designs based on site surveys, customer needs, and regulatory requirements.
Complete site visits for quality checks at various stages of installation with internal crews and external partners.
Review and iterate designs to minimize installation challenges and maximize system longevity and performance.
Stay current with industry standards (e.g., IGSHPA, ASHRAE) and contribute to internal tools and process improvements.
Requirements
3+ years of work experience with an emphasis on CAD drafting and quality control.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and spreadsheets.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Ability and willingness to commute to Kingston, NY weekly for team working sessions.
