Role Overview
Conduct site safety inspections, hazard assessments (JSA/SWPs), and audits at remote camps/heli-ports/ice roads; identify risks in aviation logistics, heavy equipment, and extreme weather ops.
Develop/review safety documentation: SOPs, emergency plans, training modules; ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC, OHS Canada Labour Code, CARs, WHMIS, TDG.
Deliver toolbox talks, safety orientations, and specialized training (fall protection, confined space, ice road hazards) for non-managed crews.
Investigate incidents/near-misses; perform root cause analysis, recommend corrective actions, and track via reporting systems.
Support contractor/client safety alignment; audit third-party compliance without supervisory authority.
Maintain safety metrics/KPIs; prepare reports for leadership on trends, audits, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
CRSP, Canadian Registered Safety Professional or equivalent (NASP, CSP); 5+ years SME (subject matter expert) experience in remote resource/aviation/construction/camp safety.
Deep knowledge of OHS regs (BC/Alberta/Nunavut), COR certified programs, incident investigation.
Mining/construction/remote experience; valid OFA3/Advanced First Aid, WHMIS, valid driver's license; physically fit for site work.
Proficient in MS Office, safety software; strong analytical/reporting skills.
