About this role
Role Overview
Assess insurance risks to identify potential hazards and propose measures to minimize or eliminate risk
Conduct full risk assessments of prospective clients to support underwriters
Prepare loss analyses to optimally support underwriters
Provide support and advice to clients on fire protection and property damage prevention: strong interest in and willingness to learn about automatic sprinkler systems and hydraulic calculations; assess damage potential from natural hazards (wind/storm, flooding, earthquake) and machinery breakdown
Provide additional technical support to underwriters and assist with various research assignments
Advise clients on planned new builds and renovations
Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external clients
Requirements
Completed engineering degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering) or equivalent technical qualification with relevant professional experience
At least some professional experience, ideally as a Risk Engineer / Field Risk Engineer at an insurance company or as an expert/surveyor in fire protection or natural perils
Certifications and additional training or experience in fire protection, safety, and loss prevention are an advantage
Practical knowledge of internationally recognized fire protection and loss-prevention standards (e.g., NFPA, VdS, FM Global) as well as applicable local safety standards
Self-organized, independent and reliable work style
Hands-on mentality, quick comprehension and strong organizational skills
Technical understanding and the ability to assess complex situations and derive conclusions independently
Fluent written and spoken German and English
Willingness to travel extensively within the German-speaking region (approx. 50%, including on-site time at client locations)
