Function as data guardian for health databases by conducting data extraction, cleaning, and analysis of data
Provides technical data quality support by ensuring data quality monitoring (monitoring of KPIs), reporting and remediation practices are developed and followed routinely
Provides technical input on continuous quality improvement practices
Obtain, clean, analyze and interpret health-related or program data using sophisticated software and analytic tools from Region of Peel – Public Health programs, as required
Prepare effective communications to various stakeholders including reports of health data (environmental scans), health status monitoring, program and strategic planning, and program evaluation.
Present data in useful, understandable formats including tables, charts, maps, customized reports, and data dashboards using a variety of software
Receive, prioritize, and respond to internal and external data requests in a timely and professional manner
Provide support on technical issues related to health status, surveillance and/or program data
Provide technical input on database design and maintenance
Comply with all applicable privacy legislation, regulations, or policies (e.g., Personal Health Information Protection Act [PHIPA], Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act [MFIPPA]) in relation to the collection, use and disclosure of personal and health information
Requirements
BA or BSc, preferably in Mathematics or Biostatistics or other related in Public Health Sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted)
Ability to coordinate the collection and retrieval of health data, as well as knowledge and previous experience improving data quality
Ability to synthesize, analyze and communicate health/epidemiological or program information from multiple sources for public consumption and/or internal and external partners
Excellent computer skills using statistical software, Excel and Mapping Software.
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within a diverse interdisciplinary team and stakeholder setting
Excellent project management and organizational skills with demonstrated time management skills and ability to prioritize work
