Role Overview
Operate as a tactical execution leader — translating strategy into sprint-level outcomes and shipping reliably.
Partner with a Technical Lead and Product organization on the design and evolution of PayJoy’s Lock Platform, including system-level enforcement, tamper detection, and secure device state management.
Partner closely with Product, Risk, Firmware/OEM partners, and Consumer engineering teams to align Lock capabilities with lending and regulatory needs.
Drive multi-quarter roadmap planning while maintaining operational excellence in production systems.
Drive architecture decisions involving Android framework internals and system services, AOSP modifications and integrations, device provisioning flows, MDM / OEMConfig / Android Enterprise integrations, secure boot, attestation, and hardware-backed security features.
Strengthen platform resilience against rooting, flashing, bypass attempts, and emerging exploit vectors.
Establish strong engineering standards for code quality, automated testing, and release validation across OS and OEM fragmentation.
Recruit and develop senior technical talent in Android platform security.
Requirements
8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
Deep hands-on expertise in Android platform development and security, including:
Android Framework and system services
AOSP internals and customization
Linux-based embedded systems
Security models, permission architecture, and SELinux
Experience building or integrating MDM/EMM/OEMConfig solutions.
Strong understanding of:
Device attestation and hardware-backed security
Secure provisioning and enterprise enrollment flows
Root detection, exploit mitigation, and tamper resistance
Experience leading teams delivering enterprise-grade Android platform solutions .
