Keeping legacy Oracle systems stable and secure while supporting modernization efforts and system transitions.
Planning and executing database patching and upgrades without disrupting mission-critical operations.
Designing and maintaining backup and recovery strategies that actually work when you need them.
Monitoring database health, performance, and availability, and fixing problems before anyone else notices them.

Working closely with developers, DevOps, and program teams to make sure data systems support how applications are actually built and used.
Documenting what matters so that systems are maintainable, auditable, and not dependent on tribal knowledge.

Strong hands-on experience with Oracle in real-world environments.
A solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies, system monitoring, and performance tuning—including diagnosing query issues, indexing problems, and resource bottlenecks.
Experience working in environments with strict security requirements (STIG, RMF, or similar), and a clear understanding of how to implement and maintain compliant systems.
Comfort with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) to reduce manual work and improve reliability.
Experience working directly with developers to optimize queries, support data models, and ensure the database supports how the application actually behaves.
Familiarity with cloud-based database environments (AWS, Azure, etc.) and an understanding of how database management shifts between on-prem and cloud.
