Contribute directly to the safety and accountability of ODOC facilities across Oregon
Receive, maintain, transport, and dispose of evidence in strict accordance with ODOC policies, as well as State and Federal laws
Conduct field tests on suspected illicit substances and prepare formal written reports of the results
Manage SIU evidence lockers across ODOC facilities
Transport evidence to short‑term and long‑term storage
Regularly review and destroy eligible evidence following conclusion of cases
Ensure precision, accuracy, and professionalism in all aspects of evidence documentation and handling
Requirements
Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis
An associate degree in general office occupations and two years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis
An equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working in an evidence room, property room, law enforcement environment, or similar setting requiring strict chain‑of‑custody procedures
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and complete evidence records, including receiving, tracking, reconciling, and documenting evidence using established procedures or evidence‑tracking systems
Experience conducting presumptive field tests on controlled substances and preparing clear, factual written reports of test results
Knowledge of State and Federal requirements related to evidence handling, retention, and disposal, along with experience applying agency or departmental procedures and guidelines
Experience performing quality assurance checks, identifying errors, and taking corrective action to maintain compliance and evidence integrity
Experience managing secure storage areas, transporting sensitive materials between locations, and maintaining complete chain‑of‑custody documentation
Experience preparing concise, error‑free written reports that follow established formats or protocols
