Supporting the quarterly credit cycle reporting process, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, summarizing executive materials, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
Provide technical accounting guidance for a variety of complex transactions that pertain to the Sun Life General Investment Account
Assisting with the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) process, summarizing the changes in ECL, and ensuring the accurate capture of results in the P&L and downstream reporting
Performing ad-hoc investigations to answer queries from various teams and cross-departments
Maintaining the control environment to ensure key controls are operating as described and supporting quarterly audit requirements
Leading applicable continuous improvement projects to improve team efficiency and provide added value to internal clients
Requirements
Experience in the financial services industry with a working understanding of investments and/or insurance
Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, influencing skills, and a team player mindset
Demonstrate ability to make recommendations to management and influence business decisions based on thorough analysis leveraging available data
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight reporting deadlines on deliverables
Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Experience working with large data sets and building/improving processes
Professional finance designation (CPA, CFA, or MBA) preferred
Investment accounting experience, preferably within the asset management or insurance industry preferred
IFRS knowledge/experience preferred
Working knowledge of SAP (or other ledger system), WEBI, Tableau, Aladdin etc. preferred
Proficient in Microsoft office tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.) preferred
