Supervise daily transportation operations, including vehicle dispatching, fleet management, and logistics coordination, ensuring timely support of mission-critical activities.
Oversee the scheduling and dispatch of vehicles and other transportation equipment to meet customer requirements and operational demands.
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to vehicle operations, including government and military transportation standards.
Supervise the inspection and maintenance program for all vehicles and equipment, ensuring they remain in safe and operational condition.
Monitor and enforce compliance with safety protocols and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and Navy-specific guidance.
Assign tasks and responsibilities to drivers and transportation personnel, ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with performance standards.
Collect, verify, and maintain all required data related to fleet operations, vehicle usage, maintenance records, and personnel assignments for tracking and reporting purposes.
Manage day-to-day staffing, including motivating and mentoring team members, providing guidance, and resolving conflicts to maintain a productive workforce.
Respond to dispatch requests during normal working hours and ensure timely and efficient response to unscheduled transportation needs.
Ensure vehicles and operators meet the required performance levels for specific operations, including the transportation of HAZMAT, heavy equipment, and other materials in compliance with government regulations.
Communicate effectively with management, stakeholders, and customers regarding transportation schedules, concerns, and reporting requirements.
Provide customer support by addressing service inquiries, ensuring timely resolution of issues, and maintaining high satisfaction levels.
Assist with emergency response logistics and ensure readiness of fleet resources during contingencies.
Requirements
5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in transportation and logistics operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Hands-on experience in vehicle dispatch, fleet management, vehicle inspection/maintenance, and transportation regulations is required.
Strong understanding of transportation requirements in a government or military context, including HAZMAT handling, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), and vehicle operational parameters.
Experience in managing schedules, resolving logistical challenges, and adjusting to shifting operational priorities.
High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional certifications or educational qualifications in logistics, transportation management, or a related field are highly desirable.
Proficiency in using fleet management software, transportation scheduling platforms, and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, transportation policies, and regulatory materials.
