About this role
Role Overview
Responsible for performing advanced inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on solar energy systems
Work independently and provide guidance to junior technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of solar power plants
Lead by example in promoting a safe working environment
Perform comprehensive inspections of solar energy systems, including electrical and mechanical components
Conduct advanced preventative maintenance tasks such as infrared thermography, insulation resistance testing, and IV curve tracing
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules
Independently diagnose and troubleshoot system issues
Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes
Create and maintain detailed documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs with little oversight
Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies
Be able to travel on short notice and be available during non-traditional working hours; up to 50% travel required.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
2 years of experience in the solar industry or related field
Demonstrated understanding of electrical systems, solar energy principles, and grid-tied systems
Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems preferred
OSHA 30-hour and NFPA 70e certification preferred
Familiar operating Drones for Aerial Thermographic purposes
Familiar with the use of diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and lead by example when working with junior technicians
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
