You’ll own the creative quality and direction for the market—building Canva's brand locally through culturally resonant storytelling, fame-building campaigns, and ideas that genuinely stop the scroll.
You'll lead a small local creative team (currently two, with room to grow), partner closely with Marketing and Growth, manage agency relationships, and work with a cross-functional team across Indonesia, Bangkok, Manila, Sydney, and Singapore.
Setting creative strategy and direction for Indonesia, including social media channels (TikTok especially), brand campaigns, and always-on content.
Generating standout ideas—concepts that earn attention, build cultural relevance, and have the potential to go viral.
Leading, guiding, and elevating a small creative team, with the ability to give clear direction and meaningful feedback.
Briefing and managing local creative agencies, ensuring output meets Canva's creative bar.
Partnering with Marketing and Growth on performance, brand, and social campaigns.
Supporting broader brand campaigns (video, static, OOH, events) in collaboration with agency partners.
Ensuring all customer-facing communications are culturally relevant, clear, and empathetic.
Requirements
You’re a creative leader with 5–8+ years of relevant experience, with a proven track record of ideas-first thinking and hands-on execution.
You’re a native Indonesian speaker with business-level English and an excellent command of Bahasa Indonesia.
You bring deep experience in social media, particularly TikTok.
You’ve led or contributed to fame-building, culturally resonant campaigns that truly connected with local audiences.
You’ve managed or mentored creatives before, and you have strong instincts when it comes to giving feedback, setting direction, and elevating creative quality.
You’re comfortable with ambiguity and pace.
You’ve thrived in a fast-moving agency, start-up, or in-house team at a top brand.
You have a sharp eye for what’s culturally relevant in Indonesia right now, and the creative judgment to act on it.
