Director – Backend Engineer/Architect

Role Overview

• Provides leadership in the execution and delivery of technology solutions to support business applications.
• Leading and coordinating activities throughout development, ensuring appropriate use of standard models and software packages.
• Developing common application services.
• Ensures timely delivery of application development projects without compromising the quality and performance of the system.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 15+ years of hands-on software development experience, including 5+ years in backend architecture roles.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience: mentoring engineers, guiding design, and driving architectural decisions.
• Expert proficiency in C# and .NET (Core or modern equivalent), or comparable object-oriented backend technologies.
• Deep understanding of microservices, RESTful API design, and distributed systems.
• Advanced SQL skills, including database performance tuning for large-scale datasets.
• Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases, including schema design, indexing strategies, and scalability patterns.
• Knowledge of big data and large-scale data processing ecosystems, including distributed compute and ETL/ELT concepts (without requiring specific open-source frameworks).
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP), including cloud-native service design.
• Strong experience with containerization, orchestration, and automated build/release pipelines.
• Expertise in application design and code reviews, with focus on scalability, security, resiliency, and performance.
• Strong understanding of TDD/BDD, SOLID principles, and modern software engineering best practices.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation for system integration and operational workflows.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders to align technical execution with business outcomes.
• Ability to make sound architectural trade-offs and drive technical strategy.
• Exposure to AI/ML or predictive analytics in backend systems is a plus.
