About this role
Role Overview
Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.
Conduct therapeutic activities, exercises, and treatments to improve patients' functional abilities.
Monitor and document patients' progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary in consultation with the occupational therapist.
Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and techniques to enhance daily living skills.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and physicians, to coordinate patient care.
Regularly participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient treatments, progress notes, and billing information in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Assist occupational therapists with the assessment of patients’ functional abilities and limitations.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of occupational therapy services.
All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant curriculum accredited by either the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Hold a valid State Certified Occupational Therapy License.
