About this role
Role Overview
Working with operational stakeholders, technology suppliers and architects to refine system and sub-system requirements and acceptance criteria
Modelling of functional and non-functional requirements and scenarios using MBSE and architectural framework approaches
Modelling operational, business and system designs & behaviours within architectural views
Define and develop requirements, turn them into a feasible solution by proposing an architecture, system and component definition
Develop component and system specifications/descriptions as well as compliance criteria for the system, items, components, hardware and software
Develop functions, systems, items and components to industry security and safety standards, and others as appropriate
Develop and manage requirements at all levels from system, item, components, down to hardware and software level
Define validation plans and ensure compliance through analysis, simulation and/or test (e.g. DO160) as appropriate
Interface Control Documents (ICDs) / Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
Allocation of requirements to lower-level components, conducting technical derivation analysis as required
Managing compliance assessments at system and lower levels
Maintaining the high-level design and overseeing development of lower-level designs
Producing detailed engineering artefacts such as: High-Level and Low-Level Designs Compliance Reports
Preparing for and delivering milestone technical reviews and the associated work product deliverables
Technically engage with the supply chain
Work with the systems architects, mechanical systems engineers and system simulation engineers to ensure that the system requirements are achieved
Anticipate and manage transversal technical and business issues, arbitrate between solutions considering all aspects: sustainability, reusability, optimisation, opportunity, schedule, quality, cost, risks, safety and performance
Generate technical reports and presentations, with the ability to present information in a clear and organized manner
Develop specification documents and procedures for new products before launched into manufacturing. Ensure specification and ensure the production, compliance and test of the components, items and systems.
Develop validation test methods and protocols.
Use Aerospace best practices.
Participate in in-depth analysis of test data
Ensure configuration management is in place for the systems and all its components from requirement through to operation
Provide general technical feedback on the design and development of mechanical and electrical sub-systems
Facilitate technical review sessions
Deliver project health status updates
Engage with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to formulate engineering solutions
Recognize technical risks and devise mitigation strategies
Managing the technical backlog and the content of associated releases
Requirements
Extensive experience in the defence, security or other safety and security critical information systems sectors
Strong experience with systems modelling and in associated MBSE tools (e.g. NoMagic Cameo), Architectural Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and Languages (e.g. SysML)
Strong knowledge of requirements and user scenario development in both text based and model based approaches
Success in working within mission-critical systems integration programmes
Ability to work with several stakeholders and suppliers, working across organisational boundaries as appropriate
Experience of developing system behavioural diagrams, modelling interfaces and developing models to encapsulate functional & non-functional requirements and designs
Demonstrable successes within the System Engineering environment
Excellent customer facing skills, including being able to ingest large volumes of requirements and information developing clear understanding of customer hot buttons and needs
Understanding designing / delivering systems in a public cloud environment
