Lead Engineer, Project Plant

Role Overview

• Play a key role in supporting the sales and business development by providing technical expertise in the design of electrification solutions for the HVDC & EHV/HV Substations.
• Responsible for plant engineering, system design, material selection, quantity estimation, and customer technical consultations.
• Ensure that proposed solutions meet customer needs while adhering to industry standards, safety regulations, quality requirements and cost-efficiency objectives.
• Execute work in association with workgroups where applicable to meet assigned objectives.
• Work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
• Work with GSI Global Engineering Centre (GSI GEC) to coordinate with GSI Regions / Business Lines as per Project requirement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 12+ years of experience in EHV/ HV AIS & GIS Substation design.
• Good understanding of power system components (transformers, switchgear, protection systems) and renewable energy integration.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical requirements and business needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients.
• Ability to guide/groom team and execute project in line with client/project requirement.
• Ability to expand the competency domain, being able to take new learning challenges.
• Good knowledge of Engineering interface with Civil, Mechanical & Secondary Engineering.
• Successful experience in management of engineering teams.
• Strong influencing and relationship building skills.
• Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes.
• Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel in the region (Global).
• Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.
• Demonstrated ability to lead in an unstructured environment and deliver results.
• Demonstrates ownership & accountability, judgment and decision making, influences & inspires team, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role.
