About this role
Role Overview
- Perform infrastructure project assignments.
- Plan, research, evaluate, and design infrastructure solutions.
- Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities.
- Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management, and trouble response scenarios.
- Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
- Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.
- Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.
- May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
- 5 years of relevant work experience for Infrastructure Engineer Sr (SG7).
- 7 years of relevant work experience for Infrastructure Engineer Prin (SG8).
- 10 years of relevant work experience for Infrastructure Engineer Staff (SG9).
- Strong understanding of routing (OSPF, BGP) and switching.
- Proficiency with major vendor equipment (Cisco, Arista, etc).
- Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, PKI, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex issues.
