Lead the development, implementation, and governance of engineering standards for ITC’s high-voltage transmission substations.
Lead the creation and refinement of substation design standards, specifications, and guidelines covering physical layouts, electrical systems, grounding, protection schemes, and SCADA integration.
Perform and review complex engineering analyses to support standardization efforts, including fault analysis, bus and cable sizing, grounding system design, and lightning protection.
Ensure all standards align with applicable codes (IEEE, NESC, NEC), utility requirements, and environmental regulations.
Evaluate new technologies, equipment, and materials for inclusion in standard practices, balancing innovation with reliability and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, procurement, and construction teams to ensure standards are practical, scalable, and field-tested.
Maintain and manage a centralized repository of engineering standards, templates, and reference documentation.
Provide technical leadership during audits, quality reviews, and compliance assessments.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and standards staff, fostering technical growth and consistency in application.
Represent the utility in industry working groups, technical committees, and regulatory forums.
Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to proactively update standards and practices.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree with a major in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in related area(s) for Senior Engineer level and two (2) for Intermediate Engineer.
Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors.
Utility experience preferred.
Possess sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the Company.
Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision, in a team environment.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Ability to learn and utilize job specific software.
