Oversee and manage the facility’s Environmental Management System (EMS), systematically ensuring environmental compliance and driving progress against our sustainability goals – energy, water, and waste.
Serve as the plant’s environmental advisor, change agent and specialist.
Engage and collaborate closely with teams across the plant structure that includes operations, maintenance, sustainability, compliance, engineering, and sanitation.
Determine where to focus efforts and develop tactical plans for delivering on identified goals towards reduction of energy, water and waste.
Seek out and advocate for the resources required to implement the facility’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
Monitor and measure the facility’s environmental KPIs to ensure plans are delivering the desired results and to cultivate insights into opportunities for improvement.
Advocate and facilitate action for continual environmental performance improvement.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Management, Engineering or in a related field, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of/experience in dairy industry is desirable.
At least 3 years of working experience in a manufacturing plant, with technical capacity for assessing and optimizing utility systems (heat & steam, compressed air, refrigeration, Clean in Place (CIP) systems, etc.), including know-how for calculating theoretical/actual performance improvements and associated savings.
Hands-on/Boot-on-the-ground problem solver with a coachable attitude.
Direct professional experience in Environmental roles, with specific experience in either:
Executing an effective resource conservation (energy/water/waste) program
Project management in a manufacturing setting
Collecting and analyzing KPIs for reporting and developing actionable insights
Implementing environmental management systems
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental standards and regulations.
Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); working knowledge in data modeling/analytics; familiarity with Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs), process instrumentation and process drawings.
An ability to travel between site locations on a regular basis – at minimum, once per month (3-4 days).
