Lead the implementation of the updated software capitalization guidance under ASU 2025-06, including the transition to the new “probable-to-complete” recognition model.
Review and assess software development projects to determine capitalization eligibility.
Partner closely with teams to document project approvals, funding commitments, and authorization milestones.
Support the integration of acquired businesses by establishing capitalization policies, amortization schedules.
Perform annual impairment assessments of technology assets, ensuring useful lives and valuations reflect current technological and market conditions.
Prepare, review, and maintain accounting memoranda for significant technology-related contracts.
Monitor new accounting standards and regulatory updates from FASB and other standard-setting bodies, and assess their impact.
Manage monthly operational accounting activities, including period-end close, financial reporting, Blackline reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Provide support for internal and external audits by preparing documentation and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Requirements
US CPA or equivalent accounting credentials is mandatory.
5-7 years of accounting experience, with 2+ years focused on Internal-Use Software (ASC 350-40).
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to have professional discussions with project managers and finance teams.
Ability to create high-quality, well-organized documentation that clearly articulates complex information.
Ability to research and apply new FASB updates, specifically ASU 2025-06.
Understanding of SEC regulatory frameworks and SOX compliance requirements.
Big 4 accounting firm background.
Experience in technology or SaaS companies.
Knowledge of cloud computing and hosting arrangements.
Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
Proficiency in Oracle Fusion, Blackline, NetSuite, or SAP. Plus familiarity with Jira for tracking development sprints.
