About this role
Role Overview
Provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff in the Behavioral Health service line
Assists in the creation and maintenance of a safe, caring, nurturing, healing, and educative environment
Ensures patient, visitor and staff safety by following policies/procedures and adhering to the National Patient Safety Goals
Sets behavioral limits on patients according to hospital and ED policies
De-escalates patients utilizing CPI techniques
Takes initiative in making decisions and taking immediate action to ensure safety
Participates in patient and staff debriefing
Interfaces effectively with Behavioral Health, ED and Security staff to promote a safe environment
Completes electronic event reports as indicated
Obtains pertinent clinical data from patients/significant others seeking Behavioral Health Services
Answers all calls in a timely manner
Ensures patients are treated with respect and dignity
Documents assessment thoroughly using assessment forms.
Incorporates Recovery principles in all therapeutic interventions
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree: Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Related Field
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days
American Heart Association (AHA)
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser
Multicultural sensitivity
Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions
Advanced reading, writing and oral skills
Ability to utilize PC including, basic elements of Windows environment, keyboarding, work with mouse, and perform basic computer tasks with instruction.
