Manage International Payroll for EMEA and APAC regions to ensure timely processing and compliance.
Partner with the external vendors and internal accounting team on multiple accounting activities, including expense report reimbursement, monthly/quarterly accounting close activities and other variance analysis.
Maintain effective internal controls for the payroll function and proactively work with business partners to identify process improvements and gaps.
Direct the efforts of payroll staff and vendors to ensure timely and accurate process output.
Ensure proper reviews are in place for payroll output from the payroll vendor. This includes all payroll inputs that are accurately captured. Includes but not limited to performing payroll analysis such as total gross payroll to net payment, average paid per headcount by country, and comparison of analysis to prior period.
Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of all international payroll policies, goals, and short/long-term planning.
Drive meetings with cross-functional departments (HR, IT, Accounting, Legal, Internal Audit, FP&A, etc.) to identify and implement payroll process improvements and best practices to drive excellence and eliminate errors.
Partner with People Operations on all matters involving employee compensation, benefits and other payments.
Partner with Treasury and Tax to ensure funding and payments are raised in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
7+ years of relevant international payroll experience EMEA (UK, Germany, Bulgaria) and APAC (Australia, Japan, India, Singapore).
2+ years of people manager/team lead experience.
Experience with international payroll, Smartsheet and Workday Payroll a plus.
Familiarity with Fidelity, CloudPay, OSV Atmosphere or other payroll and HR equivalent systems.
Experience with ADP Celergo and implementations of payroll vendors/systems
In-depth knowledge of International payroll regulations and reporting requirements, including current multi-country payroll tax experience preferred.
Strong leadership skills, ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities, meet deadlines and excel under the pressure of time constraints while maintaining accuracy and focus on attention to detail.
Experience with transitioning from a public company to a private company and the impact this has on equity awards.
Advanced level of proficiency using Microsoft Office (V-lookups, and Pivot tables) and Google sheets for Work.
Experience with accounting, taxation, and finance concepts as it relates to payroll.
Knowledge and mindset for automation and improvements to improve processes for scalability.
Adaptable to a fast-changing work environment while able to work well under stress and tight deadlines.
Direct, approachable, and clear written and verbal communicator.
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with individuals inside and outside Smartsheet in a way consistent with our values and commitment to service.
