Provide strategic legal advice to the Leadership team, management, and the Board of Directors on all business-related issues.
Review, negotiate, manage and track various contracts, agreements, and transactions; including, but not limited to, advertising agreements, music license agreements, employment agreements, service and vendor agreements and technology and IT agreements.
Ensure the company adheres to corporate governance principles and regulatory requirements.
Oversee compliance programs to ensure adherence to local, state, federal, and media-specific laws and regulations, such as those related to content, advertising (FTC), data privacy, and employee matters.
Protect and enforce the company's intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, and licensing.
Manage legal disputes, identify legal risks, and implement strategies to mitigate them.
Oversee and coordinate with external legal counsel on specialized or complex matters.
Coordinate with various departments to align legal strategies with business goals.
Requirements
A Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school with exceptional academic credentials and member in good standing of at least one US State Bar.
Minimum of 3 years corporate legal experience at a law firm or in-house corporate legal department.
Broadcast, FCC or other media law related experience is a plus.
Deep understanding of the media industry and related legal areas, such as First Amendment law, advertising regulations (FTC), data privacy, editorial content, and publishing.
Strong expertise in various areas of law, including contracts, corporate law, employment law, and intellectual property.
Ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and provide proactive solutions to anticipated legal issues.
