Role Overview
- supporting in day-to-day HR operations for our Canada-based colleagues and managers
- managing onboarding and offboarding activity, documentation and local process ownership
- coordinating payroll, benefits and HR administration with internal teams and third-party providers
- owning the relationships with our Canadian specific third-party providers e.g. payroll & benefits
- advising on Ontario / Canada employment matters to ensure Bede remains within requirements of local labour law
- own and maintain local policies and people processes, guiding internal teams as appropriate to ensure compliance
- supporting and coaching managers with employee relations matters, absence, performance, conduct and wellbeing issues, with sensible escalation where needed
- managing statutory and company leave processes
- preparing contracts, letters and people documentation accurately and on time
- helping ensure our people data and records are well maintained
- assisting in any Canadian people specific audit requirements
- partnering with the wider People team on annual people activity and local delivery in Canada
- building strong working relationships with our Canada team and helping create a consistent Bede experience locally
***This role is intentionally focused on local HR operations and employee support in Canada. It is not designed to be a broad strategic HR Business Partner role across multiple regions. *
Requirements
- solid generalist HR experience in Ontario / Canada
- good knowledge of employment standards, local HR processes and practical people risk spotting
- experience supporting managers and employees across core HR matters, including onboarding, documentation, leave management and employee relations
- confidence coordinating payroll and benefits processes with providers and internal stakeholders
- the judgement to work independently, while knowing when to escalate more complex issues or when collaboration will bring the desired results
- a calm, practical and approachable style
- strong communication skills and a high level of discretion and diplomacy
- coaching approach to grow and bring out the best in our people
- the ability to prioritise well and stay organised in a role with a broad remit

- experience working in a standalone or small-team HR role
- experience supporting a distributed or international business
- experience working closely with third-party providers
- CHRP or CHRL designation, or equivalent local HR credibility
