Role Overview
Lead and execute laboratory test programs supporting repair technology development
Plan, follow, and execute technical work efforts in a compliant and timely manner
Develop technical designs, instructions, specifications, procedures, and reports
Support development and demonstration of repair methods through subcontracted efforts
Draft, place, monitor, and report on subcontracted repair method development and demonstration contracts
Design experiments, analyze test results, and assist with technical report preparation
Interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards
Support repair technologies including epoxy/composite methods, mechanical/machining processes, and arc welding technologies
Coordinate with stakeholders, support groups, shipyards, vendors, and Naval Reactors Headquarters
Travel to vendors and shipyards to support project planning, equipment testing, and repair deployment
Requirements
Must have active DOE L clearance or a DoD secret clearance to be considered.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university with 5+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience
Ability to develop and interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards
Experience planning and executing test programs
Experience designing experiments and analyzing experimental results
Ability to prepare or support preparation of technical reports
Digital design/CAD experience
Familiarity with digital data acquisition hardware and software (desired)
Knowledge of materials engineering (desired)
Background in industrial operations (desired)
Experience developing, testing, evaluating, and qualifying repair procedures in laboratory, vendor, or shipyard environments (desired)
