Direct Operations: Lead the day-to-day accounting functions for North America, including the oversight of foreign transactions across Canada and LATAM. Manage general ledger maintenance, AR, and complex intercompany reconciliations across multiple regions.
Talent Development & Support: Manage and mentor a team of 3–4 professionals. Foster a culture of continuous learning and maintain robust succession plans.
Operational Continuity: Ensure seamless departmental performance by providing cross-functional backup for team members.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Operations, and IT to align financial reporting with business goals, maximizing revenue generation and client service excellence.
Advanced Project Accounting: Lead the financial tracking of contract budgets, partner shares, and expenses.
System Optimization: Act as a key stakeholder in the evolution of the company’s technology platform.
Monthly Close Management: Orchestrate the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Requirements
Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Professional Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in leadership/supervisory capacity.
International Scope: Experience managing multi-currency transactions and accounting operations in Canada and/or LATAM is highly preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with large-scale ERP systems (Oracle Fusion preferred).
Certification: CPA license is a plus.
Analytical Leadership: Ability to use data-driven insights to determine root causes and advise senior management on courses of action based on Actual vs. Forecast trends.
Advanced Excel: Mastery of Excel for data querying, complex modeling (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), and reporting automation.
Technological Agility: Familiarity with AI tools for process improvement and the ability to translate financial needs into technical requirements for IT.
Communication: Proven ability to translate complex financial data into clear, concise narratives for non-finance stakeholders.
Project Management: Strong background in contract accounting and the use of procurement systems (POs/Requisitions) to manage spend and bill for reimbursement.
